Spit of Hate has a strange promotional strategy. They don't play shows. They don't show their faces. In fact, they are rarely visible within the Taiwanese metal scene. Luckily they have recently resurfaced with more of the stuff their fans have been thirsting for.
Since their initial self-titled album "Spit of Hate," the band has changed their musical direction from industrial/death metal to thrash/death metal. They have also picked up a new lead vocalist. As a fan and concertgoer, I really appreciate their recent artistic innovations. Without a doubt, the band has achieved a whole new level of brutality and sickness.
Their latest album “In Corpse Still Hate Remain,” still uses a notable amount of vocal effects. Usually I hate when bands use effects on vocals, but somehow their music fits this particular style quite well.
Considering their instrumental arrangements, we can hear how the band has become more comfortable taking control of their genre. They have eliminated samples, added more blast beats, and incorporated faster guitar riffs.
For metalheads, Spit of Hate's new music is surely something to look out for. The album now can be downloaded for free from their MySpace page, although I really recommend picking up their CD. If you can also get a copy of their old stuff, you will enjoy the diversity and creativity the band has, no matter what kind of music they are playing.
